Ultrasonic dental cleaner – what kind of device is it and how is it used in dental offices?

Dentystka trzyma w rękach sztuczną szczękę. Jak umyć ją z pomocą myjki ultradźwiękowej?

Proper hygiene of dental dentures, orthodontic aligners, and other dental accessories directly affects the health of the entire oral cavity. Regular and thorough cleaning of these tools extends their lifespan, prevents bacterial growth, and stops unpleasant odors. A modern, effective cleaning method is ultrasonic technology, which reaches hard-to-access areas and eliminates bacteria where traditional methods fall short.

What is a dental ultrasonic cleaner and how does it work?

The dental ultrasonic cleaner is a device that cleans dentures and orthodontic aligners using high-frequency sound waves. During operation, tiny air bubbles form in the water, which collapse and create micro-waves reaching the smallest crevices. This effectively removes fine dirt particles and bacteria from places where a regular toothbrush cannot reach. This process is completely safe for the cleaned items – it does not cause damage or scratches.

ZENT® Ultrasonic Cleaner – Ultrasonic Cleaner

The ultrasonic cleaner ZENT®Ultrasonic Cleaner operates at 42 kHz. This frequency is optimal for both effective cleaning and the safety of materials used in dentures or orthodontic aligners.

The main benefits of the ultrasonic process are:

  • precise cleaning of hard-to-reach areas (e.g., connectors in dentures),
  • even cleaning of the entire surface of the item at once,
  • elimination of over 99% of pathogens, even without using chemical agents,
  • time-saving – the entire process takes just a few minutes.

An additional UV lamp provides even more effective disinfection by destroying germs, viruses, and bacteria. This combination offers an alternative to harsh chemical agents that can gradually damage the materials used in dentures or aligners.

Does the ultrasonic cleaner disinfect?

Yes, the ultrasonic cleaner disinfects cleaned items in several ways

In advanced models, the disinfection process is supported by:

  • UV lamp – ultraviolet radiation effectively eliminates bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens,
  • the option to add disinfectants,
  • high vibration frequency – the optimal frequency ensures the removal of microorganisms from dentures and dental trays.

Studies have shown that a properly conducted cleaning cycle in the dental ultrasonic cleaner eliminates over 99% of bacteria*, significantly surpassing the effectiveness of traditional manual cleaning methods.

What is the dental ultrasonic cleaner used for?

The dental ultrasonic cleaner is a device that helps clean various items related to oral hygiene. It is primarily an ideal solution for people wearing:

  • dental accessories,
  • dental dentures – thorough cleaning without risk of damage,
  • orthodontic aligners (e.g., Invisalign) – maintaining transparency and hygiene,
  • relaxation splints – removal of bacteria and deposits,
  • mouthguards – disinfection after use,
  • electric toothbrush heads – elimination of bacteria accumulating on the bristles,
  • removable appliances – thorough cleaning of hard-to-reach parts,
  • Schwarz plates, Twin Blocks, and other orthodontic appliances.

Other uses of the dental ultrasonic cleaner

Thanks to the versatility of the technology, the ZENT® Ultrasonic Cleaner is also effective for cleaning:

  • jewelry – restores shine without the risk of scratches,
  • glasses – removes grease and dirt from lenses and frames,
  • waterproof watches – cleans hard-to-reach places in the bracelet,
  • small everyday items – keys, coins, accessories.

  2. Place the item to be cleaned in the cleaner’s chamber, making sure it is fully submerged.
  3. Close the device lid.
  4. Turn on the cleaner by selecting the appropriate cleaning program (usually a 5-minute cycle).
  5. After the cycle ends, remove the item and rinse it under running water.
