Aleks Barszczewski

Aleks Barszczewski, founder of ZENT

I’m Aleks, the founder of ZENT®. I built this brand around one belief: technology should serve people, not the other way around. The best device is one that simply makes everyday life easier and doesn’t require a ten-page manual.

It started with design. I studied Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York, where I learned to combine technology with design. I took away a way of seeing things that has stayed with me ever since: usability first, then form. A beautiful product that is uncomfortable to use is, to me, a failed product. The order is clear: it must work and genuinely solve a problem first; only then should it look good.

Later, I moved to Silicon Valley. There, I spoke with people who were building some of the most interesting products of their generation—founders and product builders who saw technology as a tool for changing someone’s day. That shaped me more than anything else. I also worked in investments and finance, but I was always an observer there. What really drew me was building.

Before ZENT was founded, I ran my own DTC store in New York. From product development and logistics to marketing, I did everything myself. I learned through my own mistakes what it takes to go from an idea to a product that someone genuinely wants to have at home.

Today at ZENT, I do what I enjoy most: designing and testing devices for hygiene and everyday care. I approach this as product design, not sales. Before anything is added to our range, I use it myself. I write about what I have tested firsthand: how a given device works, what to look for when choosing one, and how to use it so it actually helps. In plain language, without marketing jargon.

Because technology makes sense when it fades into the background and simply does its job.

What I write about

  • oral hygiene and care for dentures, braces, and retainers,
  • designing and selecting home healthcare devices, with design thinking and usability as top priorities,
  • practical guides based on real-world use of ZENT products.
